MOSSY MAVEN

ART STUDIO

I do such a variety of products but florals are my passion and  I usually start my base with moss. From childhood, many of my memories are spent in the garden with my parents. I recall the scents and textures of the flowers that bring back wonderful moments of my life. If you need to find me, in my garden is the best place to look. And as an artist, all blooms and plants  are my favourite medium  to start with. I use  them on a regular basis in my entertaining. Displaying in salads, cakes, drinks etc. I embroidery them. I paint them. I use them in almost all of my portrait sessions. And now  ... preserving.

Each preservation is  handcrafted to reflect all the beautiful details of your cherished flowers. I will meticulously transform your stems into a decorative keepsake that you can display in your home for years to come.

Creating these art pieces is a lengthy process. The drying time depends on the type of flowers used.  It takes many weeks to fully dry, after which I begin the design process which is also a timely process as resin needs to cure. Your finished piece can be expected within 12 weeks.

For best result the freshest blooms are the best. Keep your bouquet cool, hydrated in water and delivered as soon as possible after the wedding or special occasion. Please note that wilted, bruised or discoloured petals cannot be reversed in the preservation process.

To preserve the colours, shapes and textures of your flowers, it is essential to dry the blooms when they are the freshest.

Preserving your flowers is not limited to weddings. I can use any flowers that hold  important meaning to you. Anniversaries, engagements, birthdays, memorials or flowers from the significant people and events in your life make a truly memorable and personal keepsake. Or even just that bloom that grew extra special in your garden this year.

Drying the Botanicals

While I take the utmost care in creating your beautiful preservation, resin art is an original, handmade resin art using fragile botanical ingredients. Certain colours may change. Red and purple colours tend to darken, and white tends to become cream-coloured. Some flowers may show translucent spots in the resin, depending on their bruising before the drying process began. This is most apparent in roses, lilies and orchids.

Florals are from nature, which can be unpredictable and has imperfections, and your art may have a few of these as well. And sometimes an air bubble may work it's way into your item. Also over time it is unfortunate but all resin will gradually amber. I consider it a patina and adds to the beauty of the natural art. If you wish to  delay the process, please keep your preserved resin art away from heat or direct sunlight, as you would with any piece of art or original painting.
